Recipe Application
The Project
For this project, my 3 fellow students and I had to design an application based on a certain recipe, in our case, hamburgers. The target group are people from 40 to 60 who love to cook. They can be beginners or advanced chefs. We knew right-away we wanted to design an app that would be an addition to a normal recipe book or app with smart features like voice recognition. Aside from that, we wanted the app to have a clean but playful look with eye-catching colors. So.. we came up with the app: BurgerMeester. We made a prototype of our final design, so if you're curious, you can check that out on the bottom of this page. Take a look and get inspired :)
Style Guide

App Design
Welcome to the app BurgerMeester. These are the boarding screens. You can make the app extra personal by filling out your preferences. This way, we know how much of a experienced chef you are and the home screen will be based on what you love. But, we will also try to dare you with recipes you wouldn't usually choose.

Boarding Screens
Search Page
Home Screen

Shopping List
The main pages are pretty self explanatory. You can scroll through the home screen and find new recipes. It's based on your preferences but also shows you recipes that are out of your comfort zone. We hope to inspire and challenge you to cook a recipe you don't know already.
On the search page, you can search by categories as 'beef burger', 'quick', 'easy', and so on. You can also search by words, of course.
We added a shopping list so you don't have to write down all the ingredients you need. When you're doing your groceries, you can go through the ingredients and check them off.
The recipe screen contains of a short description of the recipe and everything you need to make the it. You can read through the ingredients, add them to your shopping list, read through the preparation and reviews of the recipe. You can also start the cooking mode. Keep reeding to find out what that means ;)

Recipe Screen
Cooking Mode

We decided to add an 'cooking mode' that you can turn on when you're cooking a recipe. Every step is explained and the necessities and ingredients are being displayed with icons as well as text. Every step has a 'how-to' video. It shows exactly what needs to happen when the description isn't clear enough. This makes cooking accessible for everyone.
As you can see, we decided to add some features to make the app more unique. They all make cooking with an app easier.
-
You can schedule when you want which meal ready and your app will notify you when to start preparing and cooking. This way, you won't ever be late with your dinner.
-
You can use your voice to work your way through the app, so you won't have to use your greasy fingers on your screen.
-
There is a cooking timer added when needed so you don't have to switch between apps.

Couldn't have made this project happen without my amazing fellow students Maijla Ikiz, Sasja Koning and Shane van Hattum. Icons are made by Maijla Ikiz.
